great weather, great activities and as always great buses & people.
longest distance travelled i believe was calgary to almonte via texas, second longest: from mississippi….y know….the imitation mississippi…the one in the states.
154 busses were registered plus those who just stopped by for a visit and those who just parked out on the street and walked in for a visit. also gotta couple of reports of people who wanted to attend or did attend bus-less due to mechanical or not ready for the road yet
as per usual the loaner boats were a big hit and seen a heckuvalotta use over the weekend.
some attendees arrived extra early…like tuesday early…who can blame em’ such a nice place to just hang out & kick back.
Mikie & jenn hadda volkswagen moment on the way over wed eve….
but not with our vw… it was our ford econoline…fully loaded with alla the stuff needed to run the event, the timing chain failed 5 miles from home, so we got dragged home by a neighbour with a chain. Thursday morning i went into the lic. bur. & put my winterbeater on the road (named sh*# box) loaded it with alla the busfusion stuff & finally arrived on site at quarter to 11am. that kinda buggered up getting the registration & t shirt & goodiebag distribution up n’ runnin’ on time…was suppertime before we got to start handing em’ out
Friday eve at the former ironworks…now the barley mow pub was as always phenominal music & this year the food and service was absolutely top notch….Huge thanks to the mgmt. & staff over there for making a great evening out for the busfusion attendees.
the saturday morning bike ride over to the mill of kintail was also a big hit. 24 bikes did the tour and the riders were all very impressed with the beauty of the mill and area surrounding it….not to mention the pretty scenic ride over.
also on saturday morning as per usual the flea market was once again well attended both by buyers & sellers.
The puppy parade saturday evening was once again a huge hit and a lotta laffs! thanks to Phil Stephensons m/c-ing and the great outfits which were made up for the puppies.
kids bubble & splash area was also a big hit…went thru a heckuva lotta bubble soap.
Sunday morning’s burrito breakfast was hectic as per usual lotsa participation and Mikie’s apple cinnamon quesidillas were a huge hit, next year i will plan on making more so everyone can try em’
door prize time was also hectic but everyone got sumpthin.
rain didn’t fall until about 3 sunday afternoon. about 5 campers stayed over sunday evening to head out monday morning.
Huge thanks to everyone who helped …(even in the littlest way) it helped to make this year a huge success MANY HANDS MAKE LIGHT WORK!!! & an official thank you email will be composed in the near future to be sent to all who assisted. if you know of anyone who i might miss let me know. economan@hotmail.com
